We are a co-educational school with forms 1...12. In our school there are 110 students and 20 teachers. We are located in the countryside. 50 km to the county centre, 225 km to the capital city Tallinn. We have participated in very different projects. The last bigger project we were in lasted from 2011-2013. It was very pleasant and also educating. The project was called “Wir lernen gezund zu leben”, involving schools from eight countries. Overview of the project (titled Projektitöö) is available on the homepage: puka.edu.ee (NB! Without www.)
Short term projects have been by school levels (primary, secondary etc.) and have covered topics like protection/preservation of nature; theatre for children from underprivileged /needy families; founding a classroom for outside learning; reconstruction of our school park; cleaning trash and rubbish from our environment /taking part in community activity day called “Let’s do it”. We have acquired new IT resources. A Youth Centre is currently funded. Our students do research and creative works on different topics every year. The authorities of our school have been administrating the school more than ten years and they are very competent in the educational field. They also have been leaders of several projects. They are able to do teamwork and inspire both the students and the teachers. Due to problems in employment in Estonia our parents very often work abroad to gain a better living standard and it also creates quite big problems for school personnel. 10 students (including students with individual needs for teaching, problems with dysgraphia or families in a difficult economic situation.
